Building upon its tradition of unity and taking advantage of the family atmosphere of Venice Beach, the VBL founded: The Kids Venice Basketball League (KVBL) in 2007. This is a non- profit, 501©3 collaborative committed to emancipate the under-privileged children of Los Angeles with essential, healthy life and basketball skills. The KVBL Natural Leaders Program provides empowering, hands-on education to children in the Los Angeles area who are otherwise limited in what they see as possible for themselves and their futures. In the last 7 years, funds donated to the KVBL have been used to provide to over 1000 kids. Every week, KVBL hosts a camp or clinic where kids are exposed to the following :

  • Teamwork and leadership training and exercises.

  • Basketball lessons with some of the League’s premiere     players and other celebrities,

  • Yoga and Surfing

  • Fitness facts and training from nutrition                     professionals

  • Sustainability, environmental and creative arts education.

  • Guidance from gourmet chefs demonstrating the simplicity of healthy meals

  • Afternoon is dedicated to an art workshop and a league with VBL format on court #2

The KVBL is presented by H.O.O.P Foundation.

Once a week from winter to fall the KVBL takes place from indoor facilities to the beach. Our focus is to give kids a strong foundation, not only in basketball skills and broadly based health and fitness, but also global awareness and responsibility. KVBL kids are exposed to the following: Yoga instruction from world-renowned Yoga masters; basketball lessons with some of the League’s premier players and other celebrities; fitness facts and training from Vegan nutrition professionals. Gourmet chefs will demonstrate to the kids the simplicity of eating healthy by making together healthy smoothies and lunch. The boys and girls of the camp are also given the opportunity to play in a similarly structured league in the afternoon where kids will shine, earn a nickname and showcase their talent in front of everyone.
